For years, I thought I was a solo Braille-nerd. No one I knew read braille or had any interest, beyond learning a few letters on long band trips. Lately, though, I have found a couple of others online who are getting their transcriber’s certificate, but more importantly, who love braille as much as I do! It’s so fun to finally be able to nerd it up with other braille lovers.
This week, two of them sent goodies in the mail to me. Some of the things are for Abi, and some are just silly little fun things. I feel almost like a kid again, giving little gifts and passing notes to each other, only this time they’re coming from several timezones away.
This lovely little charm was a gift from Alice of Braille T-shirts.
I haven’t just been on the receiving end of braille goodies. When Starbucks came out with their new braille gift card, I had to send one to my friend who lives in South Africa. Apparently they need to get a Starbucks there still.

What neat stuff, but I am laughing because I’m in shock that Starbucks hasn’t landed in South Africa let alone the moon!
